Native American Flautist, Recording Artist, Producer, Composer, and Sole Craftsman of his own line of Native American Style Flutes, known as Sun-Heart flutes. He uses only his hand-made flutes exclusively, and in his performances it is likely he will use up to 15 flutes.  This Musician and Composer has been creating music for over 35 years. His background is as varied as you can imagine, musically, that is. From rock-n-roll to the soft, gentle, and soothing style of his native flute CD’s, he has done it all. The style of music he composes, he like s to call “Native Heart Music”. His fans all say “it is very relaxing and meditative”.

A very special performance of blues and r&b music featuring our very own Suzie, backed by Joe Neri and his rockin’ blues band, Blues Dawg.  The band is a contemporary electric blues band steeped in the traditions of American blues and roots music. Its repertoire consists of both originals and covers, greatly influenced by the great blues masters of Chicago, Memphis, Texas and California.  Blues Dawg are Neri on guitar and vocals, Keys Marsh on keyboard, Hutch Hutchinson on bass and Robert Church on drums.  Suzie Schomaker is the founder of the Sedona Performers Guild and one of the area’s most versatile musicians, having worked with the Indigo Girls, Keb Mo’, John Sebastian, Carvin Winans and many others on the stage and in the studio.

David Milgram sings mostly original songs in a folk/rock style and plays Acoustic Guitar,Harmonica and Piano.  He will be accompanied by traditional and exotic woodwinds player Richard Hardy, sax player of the early Dave Matthews Band.  This show will feature songs from David’s new LIVE FROM THE HEART CD, the 2002 JUST BEFORE THE HELPERS COME CD, as well as songsof Grace, Grief, and Gratitude that have written themselves on the wounded healer’s journey. Maybe a surprise guest.

This intriguing husband and wife duo of Rick Cyge and Lynn Trombetta began their musical journey together in 1993 at an organic food cafe in a beautiful pecan orchard where their music filled the trees and the birds rained song down upon the music they created. Thus the concept for Meadowlark was airborne.  With flutes and pennywhistles, guitars, mandolin, violin and world percussion, Meadowlark strives to create an uplifting, instrumental voyage inspired by the beauty of natural places.

One of Sedona’s best-loved bands takes the stage for their first performance in 7 years.  A true Sedona super-group, Vyktoria and The Secrets consists of Vyktoria Pratt Keating on vocals and guitar, Troy Perkins on bass, Eddy Barattini on drums, and Mark Thomas on lead guitar.  Formed in the Spring of 2001, they quickly gained popularity for their unique sound of original progressive rock. folk and pop, as well as for their musical excellence and proficiency.

Native American Flautist, Recording Artist, Producer, Composer, and Sole Craftsman of his own line of Native American Style Flutes, known as Sun-Heart flutes. He uses only his hand-made flutes exclusively, and in his performances it is likely he will use up to 15 flutes.  This Musician and Composer has been creating music for over 35 years. His background is as varied as you can imagine, musically, that is. From rock-n-roll to the soft, gentle, and soothing style of his native flute CD’s, he has done it all. The style of music he composes, he like s to call “Native Heart Music”. His fans all say “it is very relaxing and meditative”.

Friday, Oct. 16, Deepa

Fragstaff’s Deepa returns to Sedona with funky jazz for all, 9 p.m.
Deepa is led by the energetic Linh Renken, who mixes rich vocals with her adept skills on the electric violin to create a funk rock experience no one should miss. Renken is matched by Ceta Singley on keyboards and Cayson Morrison on drums.  Relatively new to the Northern Arizona music scene, Deepa combines keyboards and drums with the electric violin and saxophone to create groove-heavy funk with smooth, danceable beats.

Saturday, Oct. 17, Goudelis-Bonner-Clark Trio

One night only musical engagement, 9p.m.

Goudelis-Bonner-Clark Trio will bring their original sound to Ken’s Creekside, Saturday, Oct. 17 at 9 p.m.  Goudelis-Bonner-Clark Trio blends musical elements from Latin, jazz, world-folk, and funk to serve up a musical experience filled with sublime undercurrents and blasting grooves. Presenting original compositions and original explorations of timeless sounds -a full musical invention and dimension of sonic artistry. Dont miss this one night only engagement in Sedona at Kens Creekside, Saturday October 17th 9PM. The trio is made up of Sedona’s own Zirque Michael Bonner on Bass Violin, Phoenix Drummer Adam Clark, and Greek Native (currently from Los Angles) pianist Ioannis Goudelis.

Listen Outside the Box to your favorite songs, 7 p.m.

Theresa Robertson headlines with her band, Outside the Box, from 7 p.m. at the Gypsy Lounge. Before coming to Sedona 14 years ago, Robertson was lead singer for the Los Angeles icon the Heaters, which was voted one of the top five live performers by both the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. She released her smooth, minimalistic interpretation of jazz standards, “Heartbeat,” in 2007.  With her Verde Valley band Outside the Box, Robertson sings great and classic songs from bossa novas and Motown to The Beatles and Norah Jones.

Monday, Oct. 19, Gypsy Jam

Gypsy Jam open mics offers Sedona best up-and-coming musicians, 8 p.m.

Keith Martini invites classical instrumentalists to join the weekly open mic. Expect to see trombone and cello players join the stage alongside open mic standards, like guitarists and performance poets. Sign-up starts at 8 p.m.

 

Tuesday, Oct. 20, Jon Weekly

Singer/songwriter brings his best covers to Ken’s, 6-10 p.m.

Jon Weekly is a singer/songwriter who will be bringing his immense guitar playing skills and soulful vocals to Ken’s Creekside on Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 6 – 10 p.m.  Bring your friends and family down and share dinner and cocktails while listening to some of your favorite classic covers from days past.

Wednesday, Oct. 21, Jake Payne

Jake Payne returns to Ken’s Creekside, 7 p.m.
Born in the southern desert of Arizona, Jake Payne has 16 years of playing experience. Payne’s indie rock songwriting style and his four-octave range have been of particular note to journalists and music critics alike.  A resident of Sedona since 2004, Payne started playing in the city’s coffeehouses and bars building up a loyal following in the music scene. Payne’s fans are drawn to his emotional sincerity, lyrics and his prowess on the guitar.  Payne embarked on his first tour in 2007, playing throughout the Southwest. In 2008, Payne was a finalist for the Applaz Singer/Songwriter Contest.  Payne is currently working on his debut album.

Thursday, Oct. 22,  Busker Eaton

Ken’s Jazz night moves to Thursdays, 9 p.m.

The off-kilter jazz-fusion trio Busker Eaton will take to the stage for a live concert at 9 p.m. on Thursday. Ken’s Creekside invites music lovers already out on the town to come by for a drink, a dance, and some of the best jazz in Northern Arizona.  Busker Eaton is a trio of bassist Dylan Jung and drummer Lou Moretti — both of the popular Yin Yang & Zen Some party rock band — and prolific pianist David Vincent Mills. The trio layers a jazz structure with pop accessibility, painting with a wide palette to create a groove orientated adventure that takes one on an eclectic ride.

Friday, Oct 23, Chickie Brooklyn Band

The Chicki Brooklyn Band brings some East Coast influence to the West, 9 p.m.

The Gypsy Lounge at Ken’s Creekside will host the Chickie Brooklyn Band on Friday.  The songwriting team Tommy Acosta and Chickie Brooklyn will open at 9 p.m. with Keith Martini on lead guitar and Rich Keigly on drums.   Their songs are melodic, catchy, with great hooks and harmonies.  Their songs stick in your head long after you’ve gone home – the kind of songs you wake up the next day hearing in your mind.  Formerly known as Moonstone, the Chickie Brooklyn Band made the finals for the recent Applaz Singer/Songwriter Contest held at Studio Live.

Saturday, Oct. 24, Zambuba

World fusion dance party comes back to Ken’s Creekside, 9 p.m.

Ken’s Creekside is known for its great live dance parties with musicians who interact with the audience as much as with each other. Zabumba is a world fusion dance party kicking off Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., Zabumba Live brings a bit of Brazil and the Middle East to the Gypsy Lounge at Ken’s Creekside with an interactive dance experience.  Lead by Poranguí and Eric Zang, the Zabumba dance party fuses the traditions of Brazilian, Middle Eastern and other world music styles into an improvisational dance party.
